This is a tale waiting to be written. Will you let conscience be a part of of your life story?

Malaysia is a land blessed with an abundance of natural wealth. Yet, in all acts of (the) God(s), some stand out like a sore thumb, constantly reminding us humans of the various inhumanities existing and continually exercised in society. Most of which, some would say, are despicable acts of sinful humans. For those who believe in creationism, sinful humans are but acts of God, too.

But to go beyond never-ending philosophical arguments about higher beings, and to generate more helpful projections with what’s going on in this country, it is therefore a duty of conscious individuals (regardless of your ideological stand) to reason with one another.

Every time we allow the powers that be define what’s reasonable and what is not, we often accommodate to unreasonably narrow notions of democracy. I would like to believe Malaysia is above (literally) buying votes, deliberately wrapping propaganda in newsprint, marginalising minorities, racialism, and all their nonsense about upholding democracy.

If upholding democracy is about dividing constituents into racial baskets, subjecting different communities to different terms, excluding, instead of including, those most in need, or worse leaving the people to the interests of those who are supposed to represent public interest, then I say it’s time. It’s time we stopped this.

Many great writers and thinkers (some of whom I’ve linked in my short blogroll) have started on this quest to seek social change in a country so lost in the deep waters of feudalism. March the eighth was the day almost one in every two Malaysian voter marched a few miles closer to democracy. I now re-join the world of blogging, attempting to work with fellow conscious Malaysians for a better society.

Humbly,
Konsyenz (A Voice Within)
